WCS Forms Graduating?
Checklist for WCS
Work Session for 9th through 11th Grades, April 11th,
during Advisory in the Community Room
What is the World Class Scholars Program: The Program was started in 1993 to form a pertnership between students, parents, schools and Grays Harbor College. The purpose of this partnership is to fulfill a promise to every 7th grader that if they study hard, act responsibly and work to improve their community, there will be a place for them at Grays Harbor College when they graduate from high school.
How does the program work: Students sign a contract which commits them to:
* a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.0 or better by the end of the 1st semester of their senior year (a borderline GPA will be determined by the 2nd semester grades)
* acquire and demonstrate the ability to work with groups, teach others new skills, accept leadership roles, serve others in the community, negotiate joint solutions to problems and work with people from diverse backgrounds
* demonstrate competence in reading, writing, arithmetic/mathematics and technology
In exchange for the above, Grays Harbor College promises that upon fulfilling the contract and meeting the admission requirements, the students will be accepted into any academic program offered at the college. They also will be granted a partial tuition scholarship and provided other financial aid assistance as needed to attend the College.
