AHS is a better place for Renaissance

One teacher did a poll in his classes asking this question:  do schools focus too much on their athletes and athletic programs?

Over 2/3 of his students replied, “it used to be that way at AHS, but now because of Renaissance more kids are recognized for the things they are doing.”

Students are clamoring for their Platinum cards, and are mad when they do not meet the requirements, which means Renaissance is working.

RAT Mission Statement

Renaissance is a academic and achievement recognition program designed for Aberdeen High by a group of caring and dedicated students and our advisor, Cori Krick.  We work hard to point the spotlight on more students because generally, schools just focus on the top kids: the varsity athletes and the top academics.  But that’s a very small number of kids. What if instead we were to also celebrate kids that increase their GPA?  What if we recognize kids who have great attendance?  What about the students in vocational competitions or other non-traditional activities?  What Renaissance is trying to do is close that recognition gap by recognizing, rewarding, and reinforcing the great things at AHS.  Renaissance is about finding the good things at our school and celebrating those successes.  Renaissance Action Team is making changes at AHS, be part of it!  Get into it!
