COMMITMENT:
I,___________________ make the following
commitment to myself, my family, my school and my community:
- That I will graduate from high school with a high school
cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or above.
- That I will acquire and be able to demonstrate examples of
a variety of key interpersonal skills:
- Making contributions to group efforts by showing my
involvement as a member of a team, program or organization;
- Accept leadership roles as part of this involvement and
demonstrate my abilities to work well with others, share and teach skills
as needed, negotiate and work towards agreement.
- Respect and appreciate the diversity of others, working
easily with others regardless of their cultures, backgrounds, abilities
and challenges.
- That I demonstrate through the Grade
10 component of the Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) that
my knowledge and skills in reading, mathematics, writing and listening
meet the achievement standards set by the Washington State Board of
Education; or I demonstrate through college placement tests that I am
prepared for college-level study in writing and mathematics.
- That I demonstrate my ability to use
appropriate computer and other technology
needed
to complete tasks.
- That I serve the community where I live, meeting,
completing and documenting volunteer commitments.
- That I prepare and present a Senior Year Project to be
evaluated at my high school. (As required beginning with the Class of
2008)
- Prior to the beginning of the third quarter of my senior
year, I will submit to the World Class Scholars organization at my high
school or to the World Class Scholars coordinator at GHC a portfolio of
materials confirming my achievement of the above competencies.
- In a timely manner prior to the end of my senior year, I
will submit completed admissions forms and any necessary financial aid
applications to Grays
Harbor College.
THE
PROMISES:
In exchange for my personal commitment as a
World Class Scholar, the school district, working with its supporting parent
group, makes the following promises to me:
- To provide me with mentoring and a system for compiling and
recording my progress while in the World Class Scholars program, giving me
assistance in creating my portfolio and also in identifying appropriate
community service/volunteer activities.
In exchange for fulfilling the promises I
make in this contract and for demonstrating my achievement in successfully
meeting academic competencies, Grays
Harbor College
makes these promises to me:
- To accept me into any academic program
offered at the College for which I meet all admissions standards, granting
appropriate college credits I may have earned while enrolled
simultaneously in high school (Tech Prep, Running Start).
- To grant me a partial tuition scholarship through the Grays
Harbor College Foundation in recognition of my achievements as a World
Class Scholar.
- To provide assistance in securing other financial aid
should it be necessary,
so I may attend Grays
Harbor College.
Return signed
contract to your school office. Your signed contract will be kept on file and
also sent to Grays Harbor College for the
college president’s signature and then to the World Class Scholars office at
