The Objective for each class will be the key word(s) listed for the assignment in each class that day.

 

Third and Fourth Period:  American Literature

 

Monday:

·       Continue working on movie/book essays

·       Essays due tomorrow.

·       Read about Emily Dickinson, pages 746-750.

·       Read the four poems, p 751-754.  Required responses given by the substitute teacher will be due at the end of the period tomorrow.

 

Tuesday:

·       Gatsby essays due

·       Poem responses due EOP.

 

Wednesday:

·       Discussion of responses.

·       Begin oral discussion and explication from page 755 forward.

 

Thursday:

·       Current Events

 

Friday:

·       .No school

 

Fifth and Seventh Period:  English Level 2

 

Monday:

·       Read “The Third Grading Period” for Thursday, p 97-137

·       Read p 918-922 (Intro to Steinbeck and Grapes) and

·       Read p 923-925, “The Flood.”

·       Answer question 1-3, p 925

·       Read 926-932 as prep intro to GOP

 

Tuesday:

·       Video:  Grapes of Wrath

           

Wednesday:

·       Video:  Grapes of Wrath

 

Thursday:

·       Video:  Grapes of Wrath

·       Speak test if time.

 

Friday:

No school

 

Sixth Period:  Contemporary Fiction

 

Monday:

·       Horses movie comparison essay with book due today.

·       Book Essays due Tomorrow

·       Read assigned reading to page 102 for tomorrow’s test

·       Read to page 142 for Wednesday.

 

Tuesday:

·       Book essays due

·       Reading test to 102

·       Return, share, discuss, model “Ignorance is Bliss” essays

·       Horses Exam Essay is due

 

Wednesday: 

·       Test and discussion over novel to date.

 

Thursday:

·       Current Events

Speaking

·       The student will develop a comfort zone in speaking to a variety of situations and demands

·       Each student in each class, each day will speak to the whole class to build personal comfort in speaking.

Thinking

·        The student will learn critical thinking modes to become better thinkers.

·       The student will learn subtle approaches to logic and rational thinking; for example:  moving from generalizations to specific references.

 

Becoming

·        The student will learn to be considerate of others and to differ intellectually rather than emotionally.

·        The student will learn how to appreciate self to become a better person.
