UNIT:   Individual Project Construction

               School related projects (shelving for Mahon)

OBJECTIVE(S): 

Students will use the tools and machines in a safe and proper manner to construct a project of their choice.  Students will construct various projects form the school district or community

 

EALR'S :

Math - EALR 1 The student understands and applies the concepts and procedures of     mathematics.  Reading, Communication, Art

 

COMPONENT:   

Component 1.1:  Understand and apply concepts and procedures from number sense.

 

GLE’S :

Grade 6, 1.1.4        Understanding the concepts of percent

Grade 8, 1.1.4        Apply percent in situations

 

OUTCOMES:

The student will work and complete a project of their choice. 

MATERIALS NEEDED: 

Project materials – lumber, glue, nails sand paper etc

WORKSHEETS NEEDED:

Individual plans for projects

Patterns used for cutting individual parts

PROCEDURES: 

Monday – Friday Students working on their projects.   Instructor assisting on an individual or small group basis.

ASSESSMENTS:

Student will be assessed for daily points by being on time, working to capacity, participation, clean-up and attitude

Student projects will be evaluated by the instructor.
