Day 1

First, the class will be broken into teams of 5 students.  These are called “Design Teams.”  There are 5 specific jobs in the “Design Team”, and each student will be assigned a job within their group.  The jobs are:  model, photographer, elements of design reporter, principles of design reporter, and sketch artist.  All students will help with the design and creation process.

The rules and expectations of Project Recycled Runway will be addressed.

Some key rules are:

  • The base outfit of the model is a plain t-shirt and plain pants (like jeans) or a plain skirt.  The recycled outfit will be created to wear over this existing clothing.
  • No tape, staples, or glue.  All attaching together of garment pieces will be sewn.
  • Everyone must participate.
  • Garbage may be brought from home.  You are not limited to the class garbage.
  • NO NEW MATERIALS WILL BE USED!

Day 2

An art trivia game will be played to distribute garbage.  The garbage is in a large box in the front of the room.  When a team gets an answer correct, they get to choose a piece of garbage.
