EDUCATION/WEIGHT TRAINING

Our primary goal is to teach students the
benefits of fitness and how healthy choices can improve the quality of
life. Our main focus is to motivate each
student to become physically active through a variety of activities that will
be offered during the school year. Units
are in line with the
Class Attendance – You
are responsible for attending class and actively engage in the day’s
lesson. Your attendance in this class is
crucial for demonstrating proficiency in the subject.
If
a student misses more than ten (10) class sessions during a semester, he/she
may be subject to loss of credit in that class.
This may be determined by the teacher of the class impacted by
attendance. The student may appeal the
absences to the
The student/parent/guardian may
appeal the committee findings-recommendations to the principal within three (3)
days upon receipt of the
Class Rules –
· Attend class regularly and be on
time.
· Be responsible for yourself,
respect others and do your best!
· Participate in daily activities.
· Properly use and take care of
equipment.
· Late work will not be accepted.
· There is NO EXTRA CREDIT!
· Cell phones are NOT to be seen or heard…EVER!!!! First offense ~ your phone will be
confiscated and you may pick it up after school. Second offense ~ your phone will be
confiscated and you or your parent/guardian my pick it up from an
administrator.
· No electronic devices including but
not limited to cell phones, palm pilots, MP3 players,
DVD devices, etc. Items that are out/on
during class will be confiscated and returned at the end of the day.
· If you are gone for any reason, you
are responsible for make up work. You
have 5 days to make up any missed assignments, tests, excused absences or excused
non participating days (a written note from your parent/guardian or doctor must
accompany you prior to or on the day of the non participating day). An unexcused absence or unexcused non
participation day cannot be made up and will result in a zero.
· If your ability to participate in
this class is or becomes limited due to injury or illness, please notify your
instructor immediately. Your physician
may outline modifications in writing.
· An excused tardy must be
accompanied by a note signed by an administrator, staff or faculty member ~ NOT
A STUDENT TA.
· You may only leave class by
permission from your teacher.
· NO FOOD OR BEVERAGES, OTHER THAN
WATER, WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE LOCKER ROOMS OR INSIDE THE GYMS/FITNESS
CENTER/WEIGHT ROOM.
· We are a beautiful new high
school…DO YOUR PART TO HELP KEEP IT THAT WAY!

Grading scale ~

100-93 = A
92-90 = A-
89-88 = B+
87-83 = B
82-80 = B-
79-78 = C+
77-73 = C
72-70 = C-
69-68 = D+
67-63 = D
62-60 = D-
59-0 = F
Attendance, participation, being on time
and coming to class prepared and ready to learn/participate are essential for
meeting the requirements of this class. Tardies, absences, not prepared for class (no PE clothes), being
disruptive/off task will lower your grade.
Locks and Lockers – You
will be assigned a lock and locker to be used during class. You are responsible for the care and
maintenance of the lock and locker. If
you lose your lock report it to your teacher immediately. The cost of a lost lock is $6.00.
Be sure to lock all
valuables in your locker each day. We
are not responsible for lost or stolen property.
PE Clothes – The
following attire is strongly recommended for PE class ~

Plain gray or white
t-shirt
·
Socks
·
Shorts (no jeans) or
sweat pants
·
Tennis shoes with good
support (MUST be properly tied)
Write your last name on
your PE clothes.
Accountability ~ High
school is our last opportunity to prepare you for the “real world”. The best way to do this is to practice being
responsible for the decisions you make and reaping the benefits/consequences of
those actions. Make the RIGHT choices.
