Lesson and Objective:

 

Students will trace the events that led to the founding of the new country of Israel and describe how the Arab countries responded.  Students will explain what caused the Cold War and describe the U.S. strategy during the Cold War.  Students will describe how the Western Powers responded to Soviet expansion.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Assignments:

 

Monday: Students will read pgs. 564 – 565 in Ch. 19 sec. 1 and discuss the events that led to the founding of the country of Israel and the Arab countries response to that country.

 

Tuesday: Students will read Ch. 19 sec. 2 pgs 566 – 568 and explain what caused the Cold War.  Students will view the film “The Best Years” 1946 – 1952 for 20 minutes and discuss the film and notes.

 

Wednesday: Students will read pgs. 568 – 571 and describe how the Western Powers responded to Soviet expansion.   Students will complete the Reading to Discover question 1- 3 pg. 566, the map exercise on pg. 570 and section review questions 1 – 3 on pg. 571.

 

Thursday: Students will view 35 minutes of the film “The Best Years” 1946 -1952 and discuss the film and the notes.

 

Friday: TRI Day no school for the students.
