Week 2

 

Shop Safety: Identify  & locate emergency exits, fire extinguishers and locations, eye wash station, first aid kits, telephone. Go over information for taking the on-line safety test(S/P2) next week

Meet in the Library to take the S/P2 on-line Safety Tests. Read information and take multiple choice quizzes and final test. Students must pass the test with an 80% to be able to participate in the Shop Labs.

Shop Safety:(2-12) Go over specific safety policies/procedures for our shop. Identify items on a floor plan map.  Vehicle Ownership: (2-13 start)The things you need to know before and during owning a car. Lecture on ownership responsibilities and  the factors  involved.

Library to complete Ownership Assignment. Discuss the differences in car values- retail, private party, trade-in. Compare and contrast insurance value choices. Discuss vehicle costs: MPG, Extended Warranties. Discuss what affects loan rates.

How to choose a Repair Shop.

Lemmon Law and Customer Rights.

Read Chapter 1 in Auto Fundamentals(A/F) book. Class will answer all of the questions at the end of the chapter(1-15). Lecture on 4-strokes of an engine with handouts. Component identification by name and visually. Piston direction and valve position. Lecture on fuel, air, atomization fundamentals. Quiz on 4 strokes()

Engine parts continued. Turbo chargers, super chargers, nitrous oxide, fuels-octane ratings. Two-stroke, Rotary, and Diesel engine operation. Quiz on 4 strokes ,engine parts ID. , fuels, super & turbo chargers. Correct in class
