Geometry Syllabus

 

I.                    Course Description

This course is designed to integrate and maintain algebraic skills and concepts and makes geometric concepts relevant to everyday life.

 

II.                 Course Objectives and Outcomes

a.       Gain ability to apply and connect geometry principles with other areas of mathematics.

b.      Relate problem solving strategies to real world situations.

c.       Show the understanding of the role of a graphing calculator as a problem solving tool.

d.      Maintain prior taught skills and concepts through mixed review.

a.       Grade Period 1-Tools of Geometry, Reasoning and Proof

b.      Grade Period 2-Parallel and Perpendicular Lines, Congruent Triangles

c.       Grade Period 3-Relationships with Triangles, Quadrilaterals

d.      Grade Period 4-Area, Similarity

e.       Grade Period 5-Right Triangle Trigonometry, Surface Area and Volume

f.        Grade Period 6-Circles, Transformations

a.       Cooperative learning in the classroom

b.      Quizzes and tests (50% of grade)

c.       Grading of notebooks

d.      The grading scale will be:

90-100%         A

80-89%           B

70-79%           C

60-69%           D

0-59%             F
